Thanks for all the congrats (and by the way, I misdated my last post, which is why you all thought you'd missed it. Oops!) Both babies are doing great and I'm feeling pretty good too. So far they're both really good babies. They're so much easier than their big brother was at this age. I'm hoping they continue that way! Honestly, when the Bug is with his Daddy or at the sitter, the two littles are easier than one of him was as a newborn! I'm not sure if its just a difference in temperment, the fact that they are my 2nd and 3rd so I'm just more experienced, or just luck. But I'll take it!
I really can't complain one bit...but somehow that mommy worry creeps in on me anyway. Being 35 weekers, they're small babies. I expected that, Bug was small too. So one of the things doctors stress with late pre-term babies is making sure to feed them on a regular basis, waking them up if they don't wake on their own every 3 hours and then of course they are always falling asleep while eating and you have to constantly wake them back up to eat more. All the same things we dealt with the first time around, so I knew how to handle it. This time I've been very lucky to have babies who learned to nurse easily and quickly, unlike their big brother. Little Man has been a champion nurser from the beginning and also is bigger than his sister. At our last weight check he was pretty much back to his birth weight so we've been given the okay to just feed on demand with him. However Little Miss is such a peanut that the doctor wanted us to continue feeding every 3 hours with her. I'm sure this is because while she had the right idea with nursing from the start, she just didn't have enough energy in the beginning to stick with it and get all she needed. So she's been nursing and we were supplementing with milk I'd pumped. She's much better at it now and the doctor okayed cutting out the pumping (I've weaned my body down to one pumping a day) and the supplementing...but I still worry. She still falls asleep a lot...but they both do...and actually Bug used to fall asleep nursing even when he was much older. She's just so little and I'm so paranoid she's not getting enough and won't weigh enough when we go back for their last weight check tomorrow. I shouldn't have to be so paranoid! I mean come on, I nursed Bug until he was 13.5 months old, its not like I don't know what I'm doing, right?? But I did constantly have to defend his small size, and I guess I am just anticipating, and dreading, having to do that again. (Even though he was on his own growth curve and is a perfectly healthy 2 year old!) I guess its just part of being a mommy. You worry. There's always something to worry about, feel guilty about, etc. My other big guilt trip right now is that I don't feel like I get to spend enough time with any of my kids one-on-one. Bug is definitely going through some Mommy withdrawal because I can't give him my undivided attention most of the time. It breaks my heart when he gets so upset because I can't play with him because I'm feeding babies :( He's getting lots of Daddy time, which is great and he loves..but he needs his mommy time too. And the babies don't even get my focus that much! When Bug was a baby I held him all the time, cuddled with him, took a zillion pictures. These little ones get me when I'm feeding them...and even then have to share me with each other! I rarely get to just hold and cuddle with one or the other, because I'm either putting them down so I can get something done, get some sleep, or pay attention to Bug...or if one needs me, the other one does too. I know I have to get used to it, I'll always have to be splitting my attention 3 ways now...its just that darn Mommy guilt!
Okay, time to get off here while I still have a few minutes. Pretty sure we're in the middle of the 3 week growth spurt. Oh boy! But, grow babies, grow!!

That pic makes me go "OH MY!" Your BIG kid looks so SMALL! Though...I think that there's a lot of good things about that fact, too.
You're doing good...they will grow, even if slowly, and if you need more cals you'll get it from somewhere! Glad you're settling into a routine! Keep up the good work!!
Aww, I love that picture of Bug pointing to the babies. Precious. I hear ya, Mommy guilt/worry is something else! I think we'll always have it, so long as we're Mama's. I fret a lot the first few months A was born, because I felt like I wasn't dividing attention where it needed divided, mostly because having a newborn sends your brain into one-track mode. I think you're super woman for having twins and doing so well. I think I would stress over not having one on one time with each, but I think that's just part of the whole twin thing. It seems all the twins I know grow up to be a little more independent, what with the exception of the incredible bond they have with their sibling. Which is so cool! You're doing good, Mama. And don't you worry about your little peanuts. I have tiny kids, too. I seriously doubt either of them are above the 5th or 10th percentile in anything. People comment on how tiny Sprig is for her age, and I just have to ignore it. She's growing, meeting milestones, (just like Q did!) and I just wish people would realize a baby doesn't have to be chubby to be healthy! Some people just aren't big people, and I think we're raising a few. ;) Take care, girl. Been thinking about you a lot the past week!
Oh my goodness! I definitely had missed your last post--congratulations on these two sweet little blessings! They are absolutely beautiful :) And I am SO happy they are easy-going for you!
You know I totally hear ya on the mommy worries. Micaiah was 4 lbs. 10 oz. when she was born at 34 weeks, I definitely obsessed about her feedings/weight the first three months. And it was so frustrating that people would be like "Oh, she's so small for her age!" ahhh it always made me feel like I was doing something wrong. But LeAnna is right, some kids are just lightweights, healthy as can be.
You are doing FANTASTIC with twins! I am totally impressed! :)
